Providing nocturnal care for families with newborns,
so parents can sleep peacefully and wake feeling refreshed.
If you’re like most new parents, you’re probably hoping for a baby who loves to sleep – ideally at night when you want to sleep as well! As a postpartum doula, one of my favorite roles is helping new parents teach their baby healthy sleep habits through overnight doula care.
As a new mother, sufficient sleep is vital part of postpartum healing and maintaining your milk supply. Proper rest will allow you the energy you need to nurture your baby to the fullest, transforming your experience the first few months as a family.
My approach to baby sleep training is gentle.
I help create a healthy sleeping environment and I encourage babies to sleep longer by helping them avoid forming interrupted nocturnal patterns.
How it works:
I arrive at 9 or 10 p.m. and check in with mom or dad, get a sense of your day together, and answer any questions you may have. I then take over baby care, including diapering, and sometimes feeding if mom is pumping. Most moms choose to pump after 2 weeks on the nights I’m there to help them get more sleep. I keep a log of my night with your little one.
Having sleep troubles with an older baby or toddler? I offer phone or email support to help create a custom plan for your family.
“Before working with Kristin, our son was taking hours to settle and keeping musicians’ hours. (We’re not musicians.) We were a bit panicked at the prospect of sleep training and looking for experienced help. Everyone has opinions about babies and the “right” kind of sleep but very few people actually have the years of experience that Kristin does.” -Jen and Stu
